The next iteration

The biggest difference between today’s marketing and yesterday’s marketing is parity. In the 60s and 70s, marketing relied heavily on advertising. It was a safer game, one where the best products with the tallest cash piles often won.

Today, you have to be much more flexible. You have to keep learning, and you must keep iterating. Once you figure it out, guess what? It will change.

Everything changes.

The thing you love will get faster, more expensive, more crowded. It’s guaranteed to change.

So, cultivate a mindset that allows you to absorb and reflect emerging patterns.

I say “mindset” because mindset is more important than technical ability in today’s environment.

The person who is skilled at building the thing isn’t necessarily the same as the person who is comfortable with change.

Survival requires that we be open to change. Because your favorite social media platform will evolve. Your favorite distribution system will become crowded, change, or disappear entirely.

If you’re ready for anything, nothing can stop you.
