Buridan's donkey
Buridan’s donkey is hungry and thirsty. Standing precisely at the midway point between a stack of hay and a pail of water, the donkey can’t decide whether to go for the hay or the water. It keeps looking left and right. Hay or water? Hay or water? Unable to choose, the donkey eventually dies of hunger.
Inaction is the riskiest response in times of uncertainty. Yet, rash decisions can sometimes be as dangerous. A timely but measured approach can calm stormy waters, increasing the likelihood of progress when the tide subsides.
Choose wisely, but choose you must.
