Humans and AI

Humans are good at some things. Systems are good at some things. Both are rarely good at the same thing; It is division of labor that makes both work effectively.

Yet, a person’s individual capabilities seem to me to be more important than that of AI. The human component is better at the communication, problem-solving and the emotional intelligence necessary to inform great judgment. AI cannot replicate that anytime soon.

What systems can do is support decision making when a problem is not structured. And as we know, most business problems and scenarios rarely come neatly tucked into a structure.

Tackling these decisions requires both the human element and the computer working in tandem to process and solve problems.

Computers bring speed, efficiency and accuracy to the table. Humans fill in the gaps in between. Advances in information systems help us with the decision-making process, but humans are still critical to the process.
