Put the hammer down

I don’t know about you, but I’m getting tired of all the coronavirus emails. Marketers seem to believe that through increased use of digital marketing, webinars, emails, and social media that customers can be beaten into submission.

I’m reminded of the adage, “If all you have is a hammer, everything looks like nail.” Now that we’re all confined to digital platforms, every email list resembles a giant nail that must be conquered.

All this does is create irritation. If the noise continues, the noise filters will keep going up. What we need more than anything right now is thoughtful, relevant and contextual messaging. Not mass hysteria.

Marketers, sales people, and good humans of the business world, we need to put the hammer down.
