I can't wait to call my dealer this weekend

No one is excited to visit a car dealership.

They’re nervous.

Anxious.

Worried.

Irritated.

Skeptical.

Slightly terrified.

Eager to get the whole thing over with.

The dealership is a speed bump on the way to autonomy, to confidence, to a new feeling.

So, if I were talking to a car dealer looking to earn more business, I would ask a simple question: how do your customers feel about you?

What emotions bubble up before they interact with you? Are they dreading the engagement, hoping it will be a quick one, or looking forward to it?

Because dealers, dentists and yes, divorce attorneys, do their best work when they move beyond the transactional. They do their best work when they show up as human beings.
