Is pandemic marketing ethical?
Is it unethical to do marketing and advertising in the middle of a pandemic?
The question is not really about what we do as much as how we do it.
This question is less about marketing; it’s more about how we choose to show up as a brand, a marketer or entrepreneur. It’s about posture.
If you provide essential products and services, the answer is easier: yes, you have an obligation to serve your customers and you should continue to do so. In fact, inaction might be riskier in this context.
For everyone else, posture matters. Trust is important during a public health crisis. The goal is to continue to show up in a way that makes you proud, to maintain trust and be flexible enough to adapt to the needs of your customers.
