The biggest social media mistake
Asked to name the biggest mistake businesses make on social media, David Fiderer, director of marketing for promotional products supplier Prime Line, noted that it is "too much hard selling, and not enough interesting content."
The original purpose of social media was to engage, entertain and educate. Not to sell. When we lose sight of social media’s natural language, we struggle to resonate. Selling is fine. Notice that Fiderer did not cite “selling” as the biggest mistake. He chose his words precisely: too much selling. It’s better to be social, while selling. Success is a balancing act, and so is social media marketing.
